Marketing strategies are very important to every business, large and small. I've seen a lot of businesses in my time take almost a cavalier attitude toward marketing. As if they say to themselves "Ok, I have to advertise. Here is some money let me know how it goes." I assure you there is or should be more to it than that. People today are always looking for the quick fix, the instant gratification. I see it all to often as I am sure you have. The post in the blah blah forums asking "What is the best way to advertise". I do have the answer. Are you ready. The answer is........It depends. It depends on who your market is. What age group are you targeting? What demographic are you stalking? If you can answer these questions you are on the right track for success. The answer is not a simple one. Most often the answer is a medley of different answers and quite often one that nobody hasn't thought of yet.
When advertising, never do it out of emotion. When starting an advertising campaign make sure it can be tracked. Weather you pay for it or not, if you can't track it, your wasting your time and or money. Lets say you want to start an opt-in e-mail campaign. You send out 300,000 e-mails. You get 3000 responses(by the way, that is extremely good). Where did the they come from. Why didn't they or did they buy? If you can learn something from it that makes the next campaign better it is not a failure. By constantly analyzing and readjusting your campaigns, you can zero in on the most effective form of advertising possible for your specific business. In the words of Colin Powell, "There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure."
Most hosting companies today offer web site analysis software. Use it! I can not stress this enough. Its amazing to me how many webmasters don't know what there highest traffic days are. How many unique visitors are you getting? What is the most popular page on your web site? What is the least? What time of day does the bulk of your visitors show? There is so much useful information that can be harvested from these programs. I had a friend of mine come to me and asked for my help. He was getting a lot of visitors to his site but they were leaving and not buying. He did know that but he should have dug deeper. After reviewing his site statistic reports I noticed that a lot of shopping carts were being abandoned. This isn't really all that uncommon accept for the fact that 90% were being abandoned at a specific point in the check out process. I ran through the check out process myself and discovered that selecting payment page was very confusing. I let him know about it. After fixing the issue his sales went up 150%. That's huge! How much would you pay to increase your business 150%? This is one of many examples of the potential benefits of knowing the visitor flow and behavior of your site.
Don't let your ego get in the way. Don't get dragged into an advertising war with a competitor. Its human nature to be competitive and that isn't necessarily a bad thing but it can turn into a disaster if it gets the best of you. Just take a look at Google Adwords. I've seen certain search terms as high as $3000.00. I've seen businesses fold partly due to there advertising budget that had gotten out of control.
Always have a plan. Always know were you are going, were you are now, and were you have been. If you follow these simple guidelines, success is just a matter of time.

We've been using the 503 for over two years and have been very impressed with its reliability. If you want to use two WAN sources it's a great tool. Management is easy and straight forward. Their support group is small, but knowledgeable and answer the phone.

Other than my wish that the internal LAN ports had a 1000mbps speed option this has been a great router.

First, you shouldn't post the answer to a problem the person ISN'T having. You posted how to bind an outbound SMTP connection. That's easy. The problem is with INBOUND SMTP connections (where you have a server on THIS side of the firewall). It simply does not work for internal or VPN connected LAN segments.



We have two mail servers: one for our normal, public accessible email system; and one we use to send mass emails (not spam or junk, but holiday "thank you" emails to our existing customer base). Because our existing customer base is more than 250,000 addresses, we have the second one set not to retry and not to report back errors from the postmaster. The first one is co-located on one of our servers at Rackspace, and the second is in house. We can not see the second one from inside or when Remoted into one of our Rackspace servers, but we can from home provided we aren't VPN'd in.



I'm having to configure the second post office on another server at Rackspace and tie up more of our precious resources since switching to this router. Beyond that, it has been a very good router. VPN setup between us and our two Rackspace sites was simple over our old DSL line, and no difficulties setting up the Cable line as a backup. Of course, failover has to be manual because Rackspace uses Cisco routers, but I knew that going into it.



If it would properly bind incoming traffic without screwing up internal and VPN traffic on the same ports, I would give it four, possibly five stars. Until then, it doesn't do everything as advertised and has to suffer the middling three star rating from me.

This thing was great when I bought it but the scroll wheel felt a bit clunky. Now a year later and the wheel barely works. The titles jump all over when you turn it and you can't seem to ever land on the artist you want.



The good thing about this is the price but it's a disposable unit like your portable CD player from before.

I've had my e260 for several years. Works great -- easier than Zune -- equal to Ipod. I typically use it for audio books downloaded from my local library. (I'm not sure Ipods read typical audio books). 4Gs is great -- you can store a lot of audio books on 4Gs -- great for working in the yard, commute hour and long drives. When skiing, I load it up with a 2G microSD card full of mp3 files for music on the slopes. I've also used it for storing/transfering data via simple file transfer. Displays video fine, but it's kind of small. Simple to use menu and very intuitive buttons w/volume wheel -- has bookmarks for audiobooks. Click pause and it turns itself off after a minute or so -- quickly boots right up where you left off.

I'd been wanting one for a while, and I was so glad my husband got me one for my birthday, especially after the Christmas fiasco I had. I needed to melt chocolate for dipping peanut butter balls, so I tried using one small saucepan over a bigger one. Twice water splashed in and the chocolate seized up and made impossible to work with. No need to worry about it now since the top one fits perfectly on top of the bottom. It works perfectly for melting chocolate and I also use it for making a white cream sauce (basic flour, milk, and butter for mac+cheese and cream soups) and it makes it so the bottom doesn't cook too fast. The pots are good quality and easy to clean.

Customer Review: Not bad, but no worth the price...

This cushion is not bad, but I do have some things I wish I would have known before purchasing it. I am a pretty big guy about 6' 2" and over 250. The foam is really thick and it adds to your hight in your vehicle. I cannot use it in the car because my head pushes on the ceiling. Also the strap on the back are short and cannot wrap around the car seat, so it moved every time I took a turn. I became frustrated and put it in my office chair, and the straps were barely able to wrap around it. The foam holds up for a few hours, but after constant use it becomes flat and useless. I gave up on using the lumbar support and just folded it over and set on a really high foam cushion. If you are looking for something for your car I would not recommend this.

Customer Review: Good next to your desktop--Poor when using with your HDTV

I purchased this Wave keyboard/mouse combo planning to use it with my HDTV. Since I've bought a big LCD, instead of browsing the internet on my tiny laptop screen, I hook it up to my TV and use that as a monitor. The downside is that I need a cordless keyboard/mouse combination to actually control the computer. I stumbled across the Wave combo and loved its fantastic reviews. One item that caught my eye was some people said they had trouble using keyboard while sitting on their couch about 8 feet away from their computer. I should have listened to those reviews, but instead listened to the other reviews and manufacturer claims extolling the great signal strength. They were unfortunately wrong. I should have gone with the Logitech diNovo Edge. But first, the good.



The keyboard, while a little bulky to keep on your lap, is excellently designed. The curvature of the keys does make an impression on your fingers and feels very comfortable typing. Plus, the inclusion of the numberpad on the right makes it easy to type out strings of numbers. The best feature, however, is the redesigned home key row (where they put page up/down, home/end, insert/delete). Back in the past, when hitting home or end or delete, I'd often accidentally hit that annoying insert key as well. Then, while looking down at a piece of paper while typing, I'd realize that I'd just typed over a significant part of my essay. How annoying! Thankfully, the Wave keyboard moves the insert key up to the top, by the f12 key so you don't accidentally hit it anymore. Such a small but meaningful change. I'm surprised it's taken so long to get around to that!



Unfortunately, the keyboard's excellence fails to make up for the mouse's mediocrity. If you've been using the standard microsoft mouse for the past five years, then maybe you'll be fine with this mouse. For me, a Logitech VX Revolution at my work computer has spoiled me. The included mouse in this set doesn't have the extra buttons or ergonomic design of the newer mouses on the market. You may think that's ok, but after using the VX Revolution, my hand feels too cramped going back to a previous generation mouse. Trust me--try the VX Revolution (or similar style mouse) and it will change your life.



Further, it's difficult to use the mouse on my couch. Sure I can get a mousepad and move the mouse over that, but it feels uncomfortable. It's just not practical to use the mouse when browsing the internet from your couch. A much better bet is to purchase a keyboard with a built-in trackpad, like the diNovo Edge.



Lastly, the signal strength is just way too poor. While the keyboard was generally fine, sitting 6-8 feet from my TV and computer caused serious problems with the mouse. Also, there needed to be a clear and unobstructed line of sight from the receiver to the keyboard and mouse. While the keyboard is good, the signal strength is just not practical enough to use beyond 1-2 feet. My best recommendation is to go with the fantastic Logitech diNovo Edge, whose bluetooth signal enables you to be anywhere in the room.

Nicely designed with useful features. Unfortunately, it does not work well. As other reviewers have said, it seems to only work well if you are really close to the transmitter. Most of the time the pointer moves erratically or not at all. Will return ASAP, very disappointed, especially considering the price.

i have had this mouse for almost two weeks now it has been a very good mouse. i do not get why all these other people are having problems. people have complained about the battery not lasting very long. the other one i have heard is that the mouse does not always connect. both of these were false on mine. i have only charged my mouse once and when i was done the program said i have 15 days of battery. right now it is only at 13 days left. and i have my usb plug in the back of the computer. it is just a little smaller than a flash drive. i can control the mouse all the way outside of my bedroom without having any issues. so i dont know why everyone else had problems. i am running vista and it does work with it very well. its a way good mouse and it is very high quality. it has a really nice grip feel to it. there are lots of buttons that you can set to do what ever you want with the program. i have had another logitech mouse that is probably 7 years old and it still works. the reason i had to buy a new one is because my new computer i have did not have the old mouse plugs in the back everything was usb. anyway i would really suggest buying this mouse and it is well worth the price

Wow! This made me feel so good! Not only was my hard
work appreciated, but I was able to help someone. I just
can't tell you how GREAT this made me feel!

It's such a good feeling helping others. I've never
understood the marketer's who don't help (for fear of
competition or whatever the reason may be). Yes, we
all want to make money, but I think there's plenty of
room for all of us!

It really made me appreciate how lucky we all are. Most
people really do love to help others, and only rarely
has someone not helped me when I asked.

Moments later, the Tigers took the lead for good, claiming their second National Championship in five years, and third in school history. For Ohio State, the game marked their consecutive trip to the National Championship Game, again falling to an SEC school. In 2007, the Buckeyes fell to the Florida Gators 41-14.

Customer Review: is what it is

well, you get what you pay for. It's a good resource for someone starting out who isn't ready to dish out hundreds of dollars for a mailing list. But half the listings are obsolete, or old adresses, old art directors.



Also it hasn't really kept up with the times... most illustrators these days aren't looking to design flower patterns for dixie cups. 3/4 of that book is irrelevant to me. Of course it's probably targeted at part time crafters, flower pattern designers, and the mid life crisis "Im going to write and illustrate a children's book" rather than professional illustrators.



If somebody published a seriously updated & comprehensive illustrator's market book I would pay a lot more than $20 for it though.

Customer Review: too big - not ergonomic for medium hands

I bought this to try and help reduce arm/shoulder pain associated with using a mouse constantly at work. This might be great for a guy with large hands, but as a female with medium hands (wear large size in isotoner gloves) it is way too big.



The way your hand rests on the mouse, I kept accidentally clicking the right mouse button.



Few people just use a mouse to scroll around without clicking. Since carpal tunnel usually makes your thumb and first finger hurt, constantly clicking with your thumb is not too good of an idea. My hand hurt worse in 30 minutes of use than with the regular cheap mouse.



I'm returning this and trying something else. I think a trackball that uses your thumb to move the ball would be less hand stressful than this.

Customer Review: comfortable mouse does it all

This cordless optical mouse is a great time saver for anyone who spends a lot of time creating presentations or transferring data between applications. You can program the extra buttons so that you never have to take your hand off the mouse to cut and paste data, graphs, pictures,etc.



I find this configuration where the trackball is controlled with the fingers more comfortable and easier to control than the ones that use the thumb. The scroll bar and paging buttons are very convenient for surfing the web or large documents. And finally, I appreciate the way it stays put. Lighter weight mice slip on a tilted keyboard tray when you let go of them or slide around while you're trying to use them. This one always stays in the same spot so my hand goes right back to it every time without fumbling for it.



It does take a bit of getting used to and other people tend to freak out if they try to use my computer. But it's well worth the effort to get used to - this is my second one and I didn't even consider getting a different design.

Recorded on September 9,1979 in Long Island.I saw Sebastian something like a half-a-dozen years later and he played practically the same set.Sound of this release is great,but I was let down because of the lack of Lovin' Spoonful material,especially the hits.To an average fan,you might dig "Welcome Back","Nashville Cats","She's A Lady","Daydream"(maybe the CD's best track)and "Darling Be Home Soon".Where's "Summer In The City","Do You Believe In Magic?" and "You Didn't Have To Be So Nice"?When I saw him play the square at a local mall,we were BEGGING him to play "Summer In The City" and he made some lame excuse.C'mon,John.Don't expect us to believe that you've actually forgotten the chords there.Then,several years later,I saw a band play that billed themselves as 'The Lovin' Spoonful' with original bassist Steve Boone and drummer Joe Butler along with the Association's guitarist Jerry Yester and the show was a joke!Boone had told me they REALLY tried to to get John to come out on tour with them,but he flatly refused.John,reunions are freakin' HUGE these days,you need not hold out any longer.

Customer Review: Outstanding book for new to poultry folks as well as "old hats"

This book is essential for anyone considering poultry production as a business. Following this book will save time, stress, money and more. Nothing is smooth or perfect, but when using the experience the Salatin's have under their belt will greatly reduce the number of disasters. They took most of the oops's out of the equation.



This book covers in detail everything from why you should go this route, to what the "big hats" do and why that isnt the route to go. He explains in so much detail that I feel after reading this book you can safely gauge whether this business would work for you.



This book contains everything you need to begin today. It discusses the equipment, the government certification requirements, or more accurately what sort of operation doesn't have to deal with those restrictions. He discusses the chicken tractors, how to make them, how to not make them. Discusses seasonal processing, the actual nitty gritty about the processing and more, oh so much more.



I learned a great deal from this book, I was so impressed that I have his Salad Bar Beef on order. I believe this book represents a turn key business. A person purchases the rights to open a fast food chain, you spend 1 mil to have the right to use a clown to advertise your hamburger's and get to tap the experience of everyone that has opened that type of company... this book is no different. The purchase price of the book is a great value when you consider this is experience talking, this shows all of the details, this shows everything including the day to day life and how to find customers.



Sounds to me like the 1 million dollar turn key franchise. Except this is anything but a franchise, he points out family business and not empires are the way to go... and I have to agree with him. He shares this information because he would like to see a lot more operations like the one him and his family (and sometimes even customers) run. He notes that 100 operations in Virginia using the model he shares with us, would be about enough to support the state... yet he is the only one there (at the time of writing this book).



He would like to see these everywhere... people eating healthier, animals that are healthier, people being connected to where their food comes from. I can not say enough good about this book, personally I would like to go work for the author and his family for a couple weeks to learn hands on. I think this is a wealth of information and I await eagerly my Salad Bar Beef book hoping it opens my eyes to a better way to raise my beefalo.
